How to implement edge computing technology

The core idea of edge computing is to hand over the storage, transmission, calculation and security of data to edge nodes for processing. Edge computing does not mean that the terminal is responsible for all computing, but deploys the edge platform closer to the terminal. The communication between the terminal and it can take many forms, which can avoid the network delay and transmission bandwidth problems of the centralized cloud computing center.

In the domestic environment, computing and storage are provided at the edge nodes, so that data can be uploaded and accessed nearby. Only the core calculation results are transmitted between nodes, which can reduce the delay caused by unnecessary network transmission. However, in the weak network environment such as transnational and cross operators, the link quality is poor, and the network transmission between nodes may still affect the service. Therefore, we need to integrate dynamic acceleration to optimize the network transmission.

Considerations for deploying edge technologies

There are three types of edge scenarios to consider when deploying edge services. They are personal edge, business edge and cloud edge.

1) Personal edge

Personal marginal computing revolves around us, sometimes around us, in our home; For example, smart phones, home robots, smart glasses, medical sensors, wearing watches, smart speakers and other home automation systems.

Personal edge devices are generally mobile, and the characteristics of endurance, network switching and offline conditions need to be considered.

2) Business edge

The service edge is used to gather the information of personal edge devices, where robots, sensor devices and other information are collected and processed. Such equipment can be deployed in office area or home area to support information centralization, interaction and processing within the area.

3) Cloud edge

A complex Internet of things application will involve the collaboration of multiple cloud platforms. The rise of vertical cloud platforms such as voice processing, face recognition and medical artificial intelligence has improved the intelligence of the Internet of things, but it also puts forward higher requirements for cooperation between platforms. Cloud edge is equivalent to providing data analysis, data interaction and data collaboration on different cloud platforms.
